Stone Temple Pilots: Aftershock, Sacramento CA. September 23rd, 2012.
Just five minutes before STP were due to start their set, festival security evicted all photographers from the pit. For all the other acts, those of us with
photo passes had been allowed to shoot the first three (or in a couple of cases, two) number from the pit (between the edge of the stage and the barricade).
However, it's always at the performing band's discretion, and STP had decided: no photography without a Stone Temple Pilots' pass. We didn't have them; apparently there should have been some sort of agreement signed in order to obtain a pass. Anyway... the band are the performers, the photographers are just there to observe and maybe capture a moment for others to share.
Being told about the passes so late, it was practically impossible (and incorrect) to push through the crowd to a vantage point. I felt guilty even trying (the camera backpack negated my invisibility powers which might otherwise have been used...)... so I moved further back, capturing what I could with the Sigma 70-300 lens.
These are the result. Don't expect any perfection here!
